Student Agreement Policy

Private Lessons are scheduled from Monday to Friday.

Home visits are a minimum of 45 minutes.

A missed lesson does not excuse payment.

There are no credits or “make-up” lessons for missed lessons. If a student discontinues, the fee for that month is non-refundable. All remaining post-dated cheques or the remainder of the term will be returned.

In the event that the lesson needs to be cancelled by the teacher, that lesson will be rescheduled to a mutually agreeable time.

Requisite Practice Habits for Optimal Musical Development

A set daily routine is most productive. Set aside a time of day, everyday, and stick to that time.

Seven days a week is better than five, so a different weekend routine may be in order.

The duration of a practice session should be not less than 15 minutes. A half-hour is best.

For more advanced students up to one hour per day is recommended.

A helpful breakdown of a typical half-hour practice session:

Warm-ups (exercises, scales etc.)…………………….……10 minutes

Songs and Pieces………………………….……….…….………15 minutes

Free time (review, fun songs, improv. etc.)………………5+ minutes

Theory.…..………………………………………………………….depends on assignment and is separate from practice time
